2009 wishlist

 this is the first year i've been asked to make a list since middle school. yes, i am modest as heck!

mid-century

After watching Revolutionary Road, I immediately fell in love with mid-century modern furniture which was heavily influenced by the Danish/Scandinavian designers. I find it simply pleasing and the organic shapes cater equally to both function and form.

Another design contest is underway for cardboard chairs @ SPSU School of Architecture.

Yoshitomo Nara

Yoshitomo Nara is most definitely one of my favorite artists. Honestly, I like the contradiction/contrast between the soft little girls and the hard negative emotions on their faces. I think they're cute and they represent my emotions well when I am upset. The artist himself best explains it, "I want people to feel commotion beneath the surface of my pictures."

I made these illustrations and made it into a little book with Japanese stab binding. May seem a bit obscene but it's a bunch of inside jokes.

lighting design competition poster

I am submitting this tomorrow & excited to get started on the hanging lamp design. Will share pictures sooner or later.

UPDATE: I won honorable mention for the design of the competition poster while my light fixture won third place by a professional jury and first place by student choice.
